WE ARE WOMEN UNITED.

Who We Are

Established in 2019, our chapter joined forces with over 70,000 Women United chapters in 165 U.S. communities and 6 countries to raise money and volunteer about issues we care about!

Our chapter has elected to focus on the issue of youth literacy!

Did you know that a staggering 42% of Livingston County’s 3rd graders are falling below proficiency standards in reading? It’s time to act. As women in this community, we hold the power to enact meaningful change. Together, we can ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive academically and beyond.

Our mission, encapsulated in the tagline “Growing Great Kids,” is clear: to address critical issues affecting our community while fostering a supportive network of passionate individuals like you. By joining Women United of Livingston County, you’ll play a vital role in supporting our community’s future leaders. Imagine the satisfaction of knowing that your efforts are directly contributing to increased literacy rates among our youth. With your involvement, we aim to provide essential resources and support to 29 identified classrooms, impacting over 470 children in Livingston County. Together, we can make a measurable difference in 3rd-grade literacy levels within the next two to three years. Women United offers a platform for growth, collaboration, and connection.

Women United Reading Trails

The Women United Committee is excited to continue expanding on their mission of “Growing Great Kids” in Livingston County and looks forward to more reading trails in the future! Come join in on the fun!

Permanent Trails

In 2024, Women United of Livingston County is partnering with Great Start Livingston to install two permanent reading trails in Genoa Township Park and Manly-Bennett Park.

Visitors will have the opportunity to learn and enjoy reading outdoors in local parks in Livingston County! Pages from children’s books are professionally printed and installed display cases along an outdoor path. As viewers walk the Reading Trail they will be guided to participate in physical activities and imaginary play, as well as learn some fun facts as they read each sign!

Additional trail locations installed by Great Start Livingston include:

  • Centennial Park in Fowlerville
  • Oceola Township Park
  • Coming soon to Genoa Township, Hartland, and Hamburg!
